I have a situation where my client is claiming medical expenses transfered from a dependant with respect to a van adapted for wheelchairs and moving expenses for a more functional dwelling. It looks like the additional amount for Ontario (higher limit) is not reflected properly in the amount carried to line 5868 of Form ON428. Can you help?

The program is doubling up the additional amount for Ontario ($914 for van adapted for wheelchairs and $366 for moving expenses for a more functional dwelling).

This situation presents itself when the following conditions are met:

    1) Medical expenses entered in the Med-Specific keyword with option "Van adapted for wheelchairs (20% of payments)" and/or "Moving expenses (more functional dwelling)" are transfered from a dependant
    2) The amount of the expense(s) exceeds the federal maximum; thus, the additional amount for Ontario to account for the higher provincial limit is calculated
    3) The dependant has two parents in the family unit (i.e. not a single-parent family unit)

As a workaround, use keyword Override, option "ON 428 line 5868" in the parent's file and enter the correct amount.*

* Refer to the federal medical expenses in-house form to calculate this amount.
